Seasonal whale viewing offers serene yet energizing encounters. With Kayak Olowalu, you can explore Olowalu’s crystal-clear waters, rent kayaks and snorkels, and take in some of the island’s most vivid coral reefs.
Along the shoreline, many native and tropical plants have been planted in place of kiawe trees, making the area safer for tent campers. You may now stay in touch with friends and family back home thanks to the addition of authorized WiFi hotspots and charging stations.
Camp Olowalu
Camp Olowalu has four reasonably priced camping options. You can choose to spend the night in your own vehicle on one of their six cabins for groups or on one of their thirty-five campsites or twenty-one tentalows. Since you clearly appreciate seeing new places, Hawaii’s climate, vegetation, and nearby water will appeal to you.
Travel from the ocean’s depths to the crater’s summit on Haleakala. Enjoy the tranquil yet energizing seasonal activities of snorkeling, whale watching, and kayaking right off their beachfront property or travel outside to discover Maui’s lush splendor.
Their vulnerable reef is harmed by commercial sunscreen. Avoid using it for water sports like snorkeling or swimming if it contains benzophenone-2 or BP-2. Use environmentally friendly sunscreen alternatively, or better yet, wear safety gear. Only specifically specified grills may be used for fires, and they must always be attended. Fires need to be put out after each use. Cutting firewood is not allowed.
Cabins
Everyone can stay at Camp Olowalu, from solitary tent campers to huge group getaways. There are six A-frame plantation-style huts with screened windows, outlets, cots, and storage lofts. There is wireless Internet access, a washing and dryer, picnic tables, a fully functional kitchen, an outdoor shower, and a BBQ grill available if you want your camping a little less rustic. Alternatively, you could leave everything behind and just rent when you get there.
Tentalows
Since its beginnings as Camp Pecusa, the property has gone a long way, yet there are still parts that need improvement. Tent campers erect their tents in a dry, scorching area of earth with little shade. The Tentalows are set out with plenty of grassy, shaded spots to relax on and enough space between each for some privacy.
Each Tentalow includes a lockbox for your belongings, a basin, a covered lanai with seats, an enclosed outdoor shower with hot water, and at least two beds. It was quite pricey for camping. It wasn’t inexpensive, even with Kama’aina. Every two tentalows have a communal restroom that is private and separate.
Beach Activities
While tentalows and tent camping require a maximum 2-minute walk to the ocean, cabins are located directly on the beach. There are a few keawe trees on this beach, but the most have been removed. You should still be cautious when going barefoot around a few trees.
This location is excellent for swimming, kayaking, whale watching (during the proper season), and occasionally even longboarding. At the beach, there is also a shower.
