RV campgrounds are no longer just a quick stopover when you need a place to sleep. On the contrary, with long lists of unique features and top-notch amenities, in many cases, the best campgrounds in America are a core part of the destination itself.

1. The Ridge Outdoor Resort – Sevierville, Tennessee

The Ridge has one of the best campground locations in the country. 4. Rushmore Shadows Resort – Rapid City, South Dakota

There’s a heated saltwater pool, kayaking, and paddle-boarding right on the property in the salt marsh and a game tent for family crafts and yard games. 6. Trail’s End Campground – Superior National Forest, Minnesota

It’s increasingly difficult to find truly untouched spaces, this northern Minnesota gem is one of the best campgrounds in America. Trade high-end amenities (sites have water hookups only) for no crowds, one million acres of true wilderness, and crystal-clear skies. 7. Emerald Beach RV Park – Navarre, Florida
